The Dental Implant Process

placement

During your dental implant placement, your doctor will make a small incision in your gums to securely place the dental implant in the jaw. Next, the area will be cleaned and sutured to begin the healing process, ensuring a comfortable recovery.

Healing

The incision site will be healed in 1-2 weeks. However, it will take 3-6 months for the implant to bond with your jawbone. We will schedule a few check-ups throughout the process to confirm you are healing properly.

Restoration

After the implant bonds with your jaw, we will place your custom-designed restoration, typically a dental crown. It securely attaches to the implant with an abutment. Your smile will be fully restored once your new tooth is in place!

Dr. Jennifer Okhiria believes it is an honor to be a surgeon and a privilege to treat patients, and places high priority in delivering compassionate and gentle care at the Buckhead Oral Surgery Suite. Using the latest technology, in a relaxed and modern environment, Dr. Okhiria strives to maximize your well being and enhance your facial esthetics and oral health.

Education

Dr. Jennifer Okhiria attended the renowned Spelman College graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in biology.

She then attended The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill School of Dentistry (Go Heels!), and graduated with honors at the top of her class.

Dr. Jennifer Okhiria completed an internship and 4-year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Brookdale Hospital and Medical Center in, Brooklyn

Affiliations

Dr. Okhiria is Board Certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and practices the full scope of the field.

She is currently an Attending Surgeon, training future doctors at Wellstar Atlanta Medical Center and on the medical staff of Piedmont Hospital.

She is also a member of the American Dental Association, The American Board Of Oral And Maxillofacial Surgeons, The North Georgia Dental Society and Georgia Society of Oral Maxillofacial Surgeons.
